Welcome to our Youth Ministries Page

Our goal is to provide a place for our Junior and Senior High School students to belong, to teach them about Christianity, and to encourage them to become followers of Christ.

This is the webpage to see what is happening in the youth community at Summerside Church of the Nazarene... to learn all about us, and how you can join in.

Our leaders

It takes a lot of people to offer a great youth program.  Our leadership involves our pastors, our music leaders, parents and others who have felt God's calling to help in this area.  It would be difficult to think of another area of service that is as important for the future of the Church.  The youth are genuinely thankful for the adults who show their care for them in this way.  Perhaps you feel God calling you to help in this way.  If so, contact Pastor Reeder or Alex Gallant to discuss how you can help. The two leaders who are ultimately responsible for our youth activities are:

Alex GallantAlexandra Gallant - UPEI student, Local NYI President and Director of Youth Ministries.  Alex acts as the leader of most teen activities.  She also represents our youth group within our local Church board.

Youth Programs and Weekly Events

We want each week to be filled with times that you can be with your Christian friends.  That's one reason why we have so many things going on each week.  The one exception is our Sabbatical week.  This happens every 7th week which is a week of rest at our church from regular weekly activities.  Other than that we are sure that you will find ways that you can be involved.  Here's what usually takes place (check our weekly

schedule for up to date info on this week):

Youth Band

Music is an important part of our worship experience at Summerside Church of the Nazarene.  Under the leadership of Alex Gallant and our Music Director, Peter Gallant, the Youth Band is involved in the music program on Thursday evening Youth Night and the Sunday evening service. If you have an interest in being part of this band, please speak to Alex or Peter.

Youth Night

Each Thursday evening from 6:30 to 9:00pm the Junior High and Senior High youth meet for an evening of fellowship, games, food and worship.  There is usually between 35 and 50 youth in attendance - some from our church - some from other churches - and some from the community.  Pastor Mike and Alex look after most of the details.  Some university age youth help out and participate as well.  A few other adults usually assist with the food, devotionals and the games.  A typical evening would start with a time for worship songs, prayer and a short devotion in the upstairs sanctuary.  Then there is an activity.  Some of these activities are scavenger hunts, bowling, movies, scavenger nights, mystery nights, talent shows, etc.  Mike and Alex are always dreaming up new and exciting things to do.  The evening finishes off with a snack.

Sunday School

There are two classes for our youth.  Junior high students are led by Katherine Linkletter and Shelley Banman.  Senior High is led by Heather Weatherbee.

Youth ConnXions

An important part of our Sunday evening service is what we call Youth ConnXions.  The evening service starts off with about 30 minutes of worship music led by the Junior and then the Senior Youth Band.  The adults and the youth are blessed by this time of contemporary Christian music.  After the music portion of the service, the youth go down to the Fellowship Hall for a bible study and of course more food.  The adults stay up in the Sanctuary for their own bible study.  The service starts at 6:30pm and finishes around 8:00 to 8:30pm.
